Job Role

Independent Community Fundraising Specialist

Hi I'm Helen, and I'm a Community Fundraising specialist. I work as a community fundraising trainer and strategist and interim manager, supporting local, national and international organisations to grow their Community income. Please come and say hello to me if you're at convention, or connect with me if we don't cross paths.

Until June 2019, I'm also an interim leader at Alzheimer’s Research UK where I've been managing the nationwide Regional Fundraising team as a maternity cover.

Before working with a range of charities, I was Head of Hospice Fundraising Development at the hospice and neurological care charity Sue Ryder, where I led a multi-year income development programme to ensure the future of the charity’s care.

Before that, I spent 10 years climbing the ladder at Cancer Research UK, working across Race for Life, Volunteer Fundraising and the charity’s record-breaking £100 million appeal to help build a new super-laboratory next to St Pancras, the Francis Crick Institute.

In 2011, I took a sabbatical year from CRUK to work in Nairobi, with Kenya Union of the Blind.
